There was a long agreed hesitation after the 3 bid. The director was called at the end of the hand, and after consulting with at least one colleague, ruled that the table result would stand. I heard the case secondhand and was told the reason given was that East's BIT did not demonstrably suggest bidding 4 over Pass. Do you agree with the ruling? Both 3 and 4 are making. Another thread indicates large support for the selected bid, with Pass and Double considered or selected in that order as 2nd and 3rd choice.

The 3 was game forcing and the 4 a slam try.
