the bidding went like:

-----------------2 (1)
-----2 (2)----2

-----5 (4)----Pass
(1) 6+ or 5+ and a major, 11-15HCP

(3) fit, Splinter
(4) BIT

After a long stop in N-E side, the tray was pulled back with 5 on it and then South passed quickly.
West called the director and stated the BIT. Everyone agreed the fact.
West believed that the BIT suggested length in but 5 should be a cue bid. North may hold Kx or Ax in and long s. They had set up the fit.

Obviously, 5 will go down by leading A then swtiching A and a ruff is not very difficult after the dummy is laid down.

So do you think passing 5 is a logical action? The BIT suggested South's pass?

The director let the result stand and 5 by South made.
