Playing Cards on the Internet
Thanks to the Internet, you can play a friendly game with an opponent across the ocean; review and rate videos, songs, or clothes; get expert advice in an instant; or chat with far-flung buddies in a "virtual" card room.
Most card sites have chat facilities which are a great way to chat with friends and meet new ones, but the downside is that you never really know who you are talking to. The cyber world is a wonderful places to visit and offers the opportunity to meet different people from all over the world. But be aware of the imposters, frauds and scams that exist there.
Recent publicity highlights potential threat, not just to children though, as adult women and men have also become victims of someone they met on the Internet. The bottom line is that there are predators and potential stalkers on-line. Many will lie about who they are, how old they are, and what they want from you. What many want is to develop a level of rapport with their new “victim.” What they need to develop this relationship is information.
Protect Your Identity
With awareness as your safety net, you can minimize the chance of an Internet mishap. Being on guard online helps you protect your information, your computer, and your sanity ! Never include your last name, real email address, personal Web site URL, home address, phone number, place of work, or any other identifying information in your profile or in emails you exchange with others.
Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for this information or attempts in any way to trick you into revealing it.

Honesty on the Internet
Take all the time you need to become comfortable with someone before revealing any person contact information.
Ask questions and make sure you are satisfied with the answers. Trust your instincts, move cautiously and be selective.
Don’t feel responsible to provide personal details just because the other person does - they may not be honest in what they provide !
Use Common Sense
The Internet — and the anonymity it affords — also can give online scammers, hackers, and identity thieves access to your computer, personal information, finances, and more.
Never give out your address, name, number or any personal information that could be used to identify you.
Guard against trusting the untrustworthy. Any potential friendship should be based on trust developed gradually, through consistent behavior.
Take a relatively conservative approach to trusting anyone you meet online. If you think someone is lying, it is likely that they are, so act accordingly. Move on !
Playing Cards for Money
Playing cards for points, ratings or tokens can be fun, but playing for real money certainly adds an edge to the card playing experience. Once you have honed your skills and are looking for a little more excitement, or to many against more advanced players, then playing cards for money is possible at many reputable sites and casinos.
However, playing cards can be addictive at the best of times, but when you introduce playing for money in games of skills, perhaps a note of warning needs to be considered. There are three questions you should ask yourself first:
- Can you afford the money you'll be playing with?
If not, Don't Play. - Will you keep good records of deposits and withdrawals?
If not, Don't Play. - Do you think you may have a gambling problem or addiction?
If so, Don't Play.
If you are looking to play cards for money online, there are a few things you should research before registering with any site. Mostly this is common sense but the basics would be:
- look for online casino that clearly displays their software on their web site home page and research it. Recognized gambling software providers are Micro gaming, Vegas Technology Cryptologic, Boss Media and Playtech.
- research the casinos history of payout percentages. Once again, all credible internet casinos should have links to their independently audited payout reports on their home page. Look for casino sites with payouts over a 96% average.
- always do a google search on the card site name to see what other sites have to say about them. Research or ask questions on player forums too
- be sure to contact the customer support department and see how quickly the respond. All safe online card site will have an online player support department that can take your calls, emails or live chat 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If an online site does not offer this, stay way from playing there.
- always start out making deposits and wagering in smaller amounts. Then, make withdrawals before your winnings get to large. If and when they pay you, you can slowly increase the amounts of your deposits and winnings in the account.
